June 2003, my dear sweet friend Debbie Vitalie, worked at CBS. We were living in Los Angeles at the time. After the doors project on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, Debbie created the opportunity for me to design a montage in tribute to Bob Barker, celebrating his 32nd year on the Price Is Right. The image was painted in the audience holding area at CBS and in order to keep it a secret, a wall was built around the area during its painting. I hired Preston Craig to help me and I think it took us a week to complete. After a taping of one of his shows, Mr. Barker and the audience were brought to the area and the mural was unveiled.

I am sad to hear of his passing yesterday, August 26, 2023. I think he belongs in that group of a few National Treasures. I offer this post to him so that his spirit may know that he was loved by so many of us strangers and may God bless. I still remember standing next to him. I said, “Mr. Barker, you’ve been in my life, all of my life!” And he looked at me sweetly and replied, “and now you’re in mine.” What a sweetheart!

The mural was 12′ high by 16′ wide and commemorated Bob’s iconic imagery, along with the two U.S. postage stamps that promoted his campaign to have pets spayed or neutered. I attended more than one ‘Fur Free Friday’ marches in my past. He was a true advocate for animal rights. Below I’ve included a CBS Special Feature on Bob Barker and may I say ‘Rest in Peace dear man.’
