In August 2025 I moved into a small apartment in Charlottesville, very near what is called ‘The Center’. Never in all my moves and travels have I seen a gathering place for people over 50 as “cool” as The Center. It offers coffee, music, yoga, health, art, and more. I submitted these two paintings for ‘The Small Art Show’ happening November and December 2025.
Both were painted ‘en plein aire’ (outdoors) and completed in my studio. One thing about painting outdoors is that you’re right there in all the textures of nature. I have found that using a palette knife to create some of the closer textures is helpful.
I painted Pond in the Mist at my son’s Animal Sanctuary Fauna Haven . It is a 20 acre paradise for some very lucky farm animals.
