Smallanthus Uvedalia aka Hairy or Yellow Flower Leafcup.
Summer 2026 was winding down. The flowers weren’t as obvious on my walk with my dog through Hominy Creek Greenspace in Asheville. I guess it was the many bees that drew my attention to these little flowers. I say little because they’re only about an inch big and the changing weather has made there petals fall. Talk about pollinators, these tiny flowers were covered in honey bees.
I find great beauty in things growing wild, more so than perfect bouquets in vases on the table. I was very drawn to these plants and their activity and interaction with bees. While I was photographing one bee flew over to me, like a foot in front of my face. I assume she was telling me to mind the heck my own business.
