Geometric Neon Sunflower 17″ x 14″ in Regular Lighting
This one was fun! I followed the instructions by Jain 108 and an illustration of the 21-34 geometry by Robert Dixon. I had to superimpose two separate spheres one divided into 21 points and the other 34 points. This is based on Fibonacci Sequence Numbers 21 – 34. Magically, sunflower seeds grow in a Fibonacci sequence. The number of swirls rotating counterclockwise is 34 (count them by the outer purple diamond shapes swirling inwards). The number of swirls rotating clockwise is 21. The light green diamond shapes are near the flower’s center. They are the easiest to find and count as they swirl outwards. There are 21 of those.
The fun part was coloring them in with Neon Pencils. Amazon offered 4 different brands. Of course I had to try them all. Prismacolor has been my tried and true brand for the past 40 years. They even offered a few neon colors back then. But I have to say, during this adventure, Kalour Painting & Drawing Art Supplies impressed me. They provided 50 colored pencils in a nice metal box. The Soft lead and vibrant colors were akin to Prismacolor. I used at least 20 different colors plus black.
Neon shows differently in differing light quality. Here I had both a regular light bulb and a black light bulb on the image. I had added petals, stem, leaves and a couple of busy bees.
The next image has less regular lighting and more black light.
Lastly you can see how vibrant the image gets in complete black light.

You should see this with 3D glasses on.
Fibonacci Sequence is a continuation of numbers whereby you add together the two previous numbers:
1-1-2-3-5-8-13-21-34-55-89-144 etc.




This is a fascinating journey you are on with geometric art, the way the Fibonacci Sequence works in nature is infinitely exciting. The sunflower is beautiful – sadly, I’m blind in one eye so can’t appreciate the 3D effect but I’m sure it’s impressive.
