This is Job the Bullfrog

This is a story dear to my heart about a very creative woman, whose every addition to her home in Los Angeles is meaningful and reflects her personality and her life. About 5 years ago after having a koi pond built into her backyard, she decided to introduce bullfrogs to her residence.

According to knowledgeable frog people, you can’t put grown-up frogs in a pond, because they simply will not stay. Unfortunately, it was believed that the koi must have eaten all the tadpoles. Definitely a sad realization. Fast forward 5 years, Job, the gentleman who takes care of her pond, discovered a surviving grown bullfrog!

My LA friend sent two small pieces of wood to me and asked me to choose one and paint Job holding a sign. The circle is about 8″ in diameter. I immediately realized that we should use both pieces. It’s a happy painting and one I enjoyed doing very much!

This tenacious frog still keeps a low profile in the water, but now that he’s been seen I bet we’ll see more of him. Having been named after the caretaker of the pond ‘JOB’ (with a long O) is declaring that the pond is his. My research says that bullfrogs may live up to 16 years in captivity. Let’s wish him a very long life (and maybe attract a companion.)
