Impassioned Dance

Impassioned Dance

I’m almost finished with this painting titled ‘Impassioned Dance’, 24″ x 30″ mixed media painting on canvas. It’s about 90% complete, but this is where I have to put it aside for a few days and come back with fresh eyes and make my corrections. The highlights are gold and silver composition leaf and violet interference paints. I feel like Klimpt must have been standing over my shoulder on this one, whispering “more gold leaf” in my ear.
I guess this is part of my new portraiture style, not as stylized as my typical works. I’ve been intrigued lately by the personality of the individual rather than the symbolic representation of all women. I suppose, each individual woman IS the symbolic representation of all.
I didn’t mean for two weeks to go by without a new blog. So stay tuned, the next one should be done by tomorrow. It’s the story behind the ‘Metamorphosis of Woman’.

This is too beautiful for words. Who was the model? I love her face. Did you use paint for fabric for the veil that goes all around? I need another workshop with you. Carole

I’m loving your new portraiture style of painting, this one is gorgeous!
